I know! I’ve been missing in action for several months now, my bad. Life has been hectic, so hectic it’s even kept me from making art since the summer. My Etsy shop has been doing really well, so it’s been keeping me VERY busy. I redid my bathroom this past fall, painted walls and ceiling, ripped up the old linoelum and laid down really beautiful stone look vinyl tiles, put up new white paneling (which I painted an awesome sky blue with a midge of green, and white ceiling and trim) I’m also cleaning out years of clutter, going through all kinds of stuff I’ve amassed over the last 20 years or so, doing the 3 pile thing. It’s so hard for me to throw things out, but I’m getting better at it.
This year, if my plans bear fruit, will see me relocating. I think I’m going to look around for a nice, ground floor, luxury condo rental, a little further east and no more than 20 minutes from the beach. The time has come for me to build my own nest, on my own, just for me. I ‘ve grown tired of having to share the house and live with all the concessions forced upon me that really cramp my style, so it’s time to go. That, and the stairs are killing my poor arthritic knees. I’m tired of the pain, emotional and physical.
I think, also, that I will probably return to the job market. I really need to once and for all clear out all of my debt. This also means cutting back by about half the number of art and jewelry retreats I go to until I’m saving and not paying out. I’ve already registered and paid for Art&Soul in May this year. I also plan to go to Art Is.. in October. I may go the Interweave Bead Fest in April and August, though I’m not sure about them yet. If I do go, it will be to take 2 classes max on a weekend. As far as work, I’m thinking I’ll probably look in the school system or BOCES so I can have my summers off, plus all those holidays and recesses. It’ll only be part-time. I’m hoping to get weekends and nights, if not then 3-4 days a week, maybe 20 hrs a week. If I want to live in luxury, as well as continue going to art and jewelry retreats, I have to make this concession, as much as I hate the idea of going back to work. So, this is how 2011 will probably go, though nothing is written in stone. This is a rough sketch in my head, a work in progress.
Now that the holiday crunch at my Etsy shop has ended, I need to get back to cleaning out. I need to get back to my art! I’ve been writing new poetry since the summer, yay!! My muse has been active. I need to get out for some walk abouts with the camera, it’s been ages since I did that and I need to walk and move. I’ve been making the same type of art for some time now – so I’ve decided that 2011 will be a year of change and challenge. First up, I want to start making clay art doll figurines, and more assemblage art. I have wanted to get into making dolls for longer than I can remember – I devour each issue of Art Dolls and can’t wait for the next. So, it’s time. I plan to being with one of my favorite themes – Primitive Halloween! I’m very anxious to get started – though before I can I absolutely must finish the cleaning out and packing away or it’ll never get done. So, maybe by the spring I’ll be ready.
